Words by Jesse Serwer
We first got a taste of Zion I Kings’ Junction riddim via Jahdan Blakkamoore and Kabaka Pyramid’s “For The Children” single/video back in February. A few seasons later, Zion I Kings — which consists of Zion High Productions’ David Goldfine on bass, I Grade Records’ Laurent “Tippy” Alfred on keyboards and Lustre Kings Productions’ Andrew “Moon” Bain on guitar — have returned with a full riddim release with tracks voiced by Lutan Fyah, Johnny Osbourne, Angela Hunte with Ziggi Recado, Pressure Busspipe, Perfect Giddimani, Hempress Sativa, Bobby Hustle and Midnite. The riddim, which was recorded at Jamaica’s Tuff Gong studio with Style Scott of the Roots Radics on drums, blends a one-drop rhythm with traces of hip-hop, dub and dubstep.
Here all of the tracks from the Lustre Kings label release below via Blessed Coast‘s megamix. The Junction riddim drops Tuesday Sept. 23 on iTunes; pre-order it here.
