Amongst the crisp hip-hop, driving calypso, and irie roots reggae, there’s an interesting sense of class finely woven into the Virgin Islands’ musical tapestry. Ms. Kenya Eugene is a prime example: an effortless songstress and seasoned fashion model, she is now getting her art out en masse, giving us a great opportunity to showcase how diverse the Caribbean really is.
Ms. Eugene, along with The Sound of Art Group, has been making waves in the region since her first performance at Tempo Turns One. Since then, she’s built a reputation with quality performances (she’s performed with Morgan Heritage, Dezarie and Rock City, and opened for such artists such as Wyclef Jean and India Arie); a classy video for her debut single “You Are My World”; and now, a brand-new album, entitled If I Could, that sees her working with producers Jason Farmer, Renan Harrigan, Glenroy “Success” Niles, and Dean Pond.
Now, the native of Frederiksted — St. Croix’s “Freedom City” — is ready to share with the masses her second official video from If I Could , visualizing “Love Again” with reggae star Pressure Busspipe in fine style. The smooth lover’s rock tune produced by AJ Ventura brightly shows the melodic talents of both artists, while depicting the familiar message of “re-finding” love. Pressure matches well with Ms. Eugene’s fine-tuned vocal range and, together, they create a pleasant audio blend, all brought together in the video below.
The track is among several standouts on the album including the opening track “Don’t Know How,” “Love Me Back,” “When,” and the ever-so sensual “Flirt.”
