LargeUp contributor and producer/DJ Echo Slim gave us a preview of his “unorthodox sound crew” Yaga Sounds on Mixtape Mondays a few weeks back. Now the Miami-based squad—part sound system and part live band, it also includes Joshua “Gappo” Manning (keyboardist for Beres Hammond, and son of The Abyssinians’ Donald Manning) and engineer Flexx—have dropped off their debut single “D.B.M.,” featuring none other than Sizzla, over a driving, uptempo dancehall riddim.
“D.B.M.,” which stands for “Dem Bad Mind,” has the lyrics you might expect with that title but Sizzla, always unpredictable, switches things up near the end, and gets in a few lines to the ladies. Stream it below, buy here, and share your thoughts in the comments.
