LargeUp is pleased to bring you a premiere not only of a song, but of an artist. Sevana is a vocalist who’s got people in Jamaica talking thanks to her appearances on Kingston’s live music circuit, but up until now she hasn’t released any original music. (You may, however, have caught a glimpse of her natural beauty in our own Martei Korley’s “Couldn’t Be Wrong” video—she played his love interest).
Produced by Winta James and Protoje, “Bit Too Shy” offers a strong introduction to Sevana’s soulful reggae style, complete with an intro from Diggy himself. Of course, one song isn’t much to go on, but we’re hearing “Jamaican Jazmine Sullivan.” In any case, fans of Philly soul, neo-soul or just soulful music in general should find plenty to enjoy in “Bit Too Shy.” We just hope Sevana isn’t too shy to keep more dropping gems like this.
