Lee “Scratch” Perry would be a hell of a Halloween costume. Perry’s personal uniform is a compilation of personal artifacts so distinctive that it would be impossible to replicate. So while we’re sure someone’s tried, we doubt anyone else out there could do Scratch justice. Better to spend your Oct. 31st enjoying the many “haunted” and “spooky” tunes the reggae/dub pioneer has had his hand in over the years. From Bob Marley’s original “Duppy Conqueror” (produced by Perry on the Upsetter label in 1970) to his latest release, “Black Ark Vampires,” (premiered right here yesterday) Perry’s catalog is ripe for Halloween listening. If you really must express your love for LSP through your attire, head over to his website, where a pair of smartly designed new tees and some slick new pins are now for sale.
The tees, designed by New Analog and hand printed by One69A, are the first official shirts ever commissioned for The Upsetter, while the pins are currently available for pre-order at £3 a pop. Pree di business below.
