Words by Silent Addy
Welcome back to “Selector’s Choice,” LargeUp’s look inside your favorite DJ’s record bags and hard drives. In the booth this week is Silent Addy of MIA/JA’s Eccentrix Sound. The founder of lifestyle brand Team No Sleep and Miami area parties Riddim Series, Aura and Way Up, Addy’s also the brains behind the web video series No Sleep TV and “Ching and Silent Addy” (with dancehall deejay Chi Ching Ching). Run tune, selector…
Chi Ching Ching featuring Beenie Man and Popcaan, “Way Up! (Remix)”
I didn’t just pick this one ’cause I work with Ching. This tune is so much vibes. Walshy Fire already selected the original version of this one in his Selector’s Choice, but getting Beenie Man on the remix just took the song to a whole ‘nother level. This is running the streets right now.
Ape Drums featuring Gappy Ranks, “Overload”
Right now, Ape Drums is one of my favorites when it comes to EDM/dancehall bangers. This song goes so hard in the club.
Notis and Iba Mahr, “Diamond Sox”
This tune right here tuff!!! Listening to this song makes me want to park my Nikes and just wear my Clarks with my mesh marina everyday!
Dexta Daps, “Morning Love”
Dexta Daps is definitely an artist I’m looking forward to hearing more from. This sounds like early Mavado, and it was produced by Daseca.
Alkaline, “How It Feel ” + “Somewhere”
I rate Alkaline as an artist. His melodies are super catchy.
Protoje, “Stylin'”
When it comes to quality music, Protoje never disappoints. His new album, Ancient Future, is going to be straight fire.
Toian, “Rude Boys”
This tune full ah vibes.. and the video is, too. And, once again, I’m not just saying that because Toian is the homie. This is a big tune—don’t sleep.
