Recommended Viewing: Watch LunchMoney Lewis’ “Bills” Video

Aww man, aww man, aww man, aww man!

If you’ve got Nicki Minaj’s latest album, you might have heard the name LunchMoney Lewis. He’s the featured vocalist and co-writer on what’s easily our favorite track on The Pinkprint, “Trini Dem Girls.”

For us, “Lunchy” was already quite the familiar face. As the son of Inner Circle bassist and co-founder Ian Lewis, he’s been a staple presence at one of our favorite places, Circle House Studios, the Miami recording facility co-owned by his father and fellow “Bad Boys of Reggae” Roger Lewis and Touter Harvey. We featured him for the first time back in 2012, when he dropped this video of him freestyling over Stephen Marley’s “Jah Army.”

These days Lunchy is out in Los Angeles working as a songwriter under Dr. Luke, racking up credits for major projects we can’t even name yet. But it was only a matter of time before he put his artist hat back on and dropped a hit of his own. That would be “Bills,” a lighthearted, piano-driven tune with a touch of Cee-Lo by way of the great Billy Preston (Google, if you don’t know that name). Ready made for pop radio, the track is a reinvention for Mr. Lewis, a rapper in his MIA days (when he went by just Lunch Money, no Lewis).

We were already loving “Bills” but we’re feeling it even more now that we’ve seen the suitably fun video starring Lunchy as an overextended subarbanite up to his neck in debt—and, in true yardie style, about a dozen other gigs. Watch the clip below, and look out for our upcoming interview for more on this rising star.
