Rated No. 4 on our Toppa Top ’15 countdown of Artists to Watch in 2015, Toian is definitely delivering with the quickness. Fresh off of the release of her debut EP, Retrospect, she’s just dropped the video for the project’s second single, entitled “Love It,” via MTV Jams.
As you might recall, we premiered this track a month ago, and now it’s got some strong visuals courtesy of Sean Alaric of Class One Music, who is also the producer of this song (and the full EP). Set in Kingston, Jamaica, the visuals match the lyrical content of this song perfectly, while Toian and Sean take it back sonically to some feelgood vibes reminiscent of reggae in the early 80s. You can even hear some influence from the great Barrington Levy coming through Toian’s vocals at times. Overall, the song is positive, and the video displays some all-around good vibes (not to mention Toian’s typically smart fashion choices, and some ’80s relics we haven’t seen in a while, like VHS videotapes). What more can you ask for? Check it out for yourself below, and read our interview with Toian here.
