For the fourth straight year, LargeUp brought the bashment to Winter Music Conference and Miami Music Week with our annual Winter Music Massive. Presented with 222 Worldwide, Urban Relations, The Solid Agency and the Abebe Lewis Marketing Group, this year’s edition brought dancehall stars Assassin (a.k.a. Agent Sasco) and Tifa to Coyo in the Wynwood Arts Distric. Once again, this was the only Caribbean-focused event during WMC, a week otherwise filled with non-stop EDM.
To enter, guests had to make their way through Coyo Taco, one of Miami’s most popular new eateries, following the sounds of dancehall to the “unnamed” space behind the taqueria. Making his first US appearance since his headline-grabbing cameo on Kendrick Lamar’s “The Blacker The Berry,” one of this year’s most talked about and debated hip-hop tracks, Sasco got the whole placed hyped with a set that included classics “Idiot Ting” and “Anywhere We Go” and the big tune “Mix Up” while Tifa kept things “Up Deh” with hits like “Dash Out.” She even laid claim to being the “Twista of Jamaica,” getting some of her biggest forwards from a breakneck, speed-rap freestyle.
Selectors Corey Chase, Ras Adonai, DJ Gravy and Silent Addy brought the sounds, while MCs Martin Lutha and Scotch Bonnet brought the hype. And fellow Djs including Supa Twitch, DJ Reem (of Champion Squad), DJ Rampage and EchoSlim were among those who turned out to attend the event, hosted by Abebe Lewis and Naisha Nicholas. Check out all of the pics from Sunday night’s bashment below, and see you next year, Miami!
