LargeUp Premiere: Skip Marley’s “Cry To Me” Video

We caught Skip Marley—or just Skip, as he’s soon to be known—at his first-ever show this past February in Miami. Just 18, and with no music of his own out, he captivated an audience of grown reggae fans, drawing screams and shouts from the ladies in attendance.

The first-born son of Cedella Marley, grandson of Bob and Rita Marley and grand-nephew of Marcia Griffiths now has a debut single via Tuff Gong International that’s eliciting a similar response, and we’re pleased to present the video for the track, entitled “Cry To Me.”

Written and arranged by Skip himself, and co-produced by Skip with Paul Fakhourie (Lauryn Hill, Stephen Marley, Damian Marley, Nas), “Cry To Me” is a pop-reggae track with an important message for young people about overcoming insecurities. Despite the song’s mature theme, Skip is still a kid, and the video, shot in Miami, finds him in a typical teenager’s bedroom, sporting an Oculus Rift headset and toying around on drums and guitar, while comforting his female object of his attention.

Watch “Cry To Me” below, and look out for our interview with Skip on LargeUp tomorrow.
