Bob Marley’s youngest sons, Ky-mani and Damian Marley, have performed together countless times over the years—but until now they’ve never appeared on an original track together. The brothers’ first-ever studio collaboration, “Keepers of the Light” is the second single from Maestro, Ky-mani’s first new album in eight years, which drops June 30th. The anthemic track, produced by Ky-mani’s musical director Jason “J-Vibe” Farmer, has a bit of a synth-pop flavor, not unlike Damian’s “Affairs of the Heart,” but with enough reggae vibes to fall right into the singer’s sweet spot. Check out the world premiere below.
Speaking of Maestro, join Ky-mani and LargeUp in NYC June 29th for the official Maestro album release party at (Le) Poisson Rouge. The event is part of a busy week for Ky-mani that will also find him at Gurney’s Montauk Resort as part of LargeUp’s Montauk Sessions series this Sunday (June 28th) and at the United Nations, the following day on June 30th. Of course, if you’re not in the New York area, there’s a whole Maestro tour ahead, kicking off July 9th in Seattle. Check the full dates here.
