Yoo Large Up crew! I’m DJ Puffy from Barbados, and it’s definitely a pleasure to be blessing up the Selector’s Choice column. At this moment in Barbados, we’re preparing to go full force into the Crop Over season, and I believe this year will be even better than the last. I’ve been really busy myself, working with some of the soca artists on their road mixes for the season. Here’s my picks for the top five tracks that should be banging at every Crop Over event this year:

King Bubba FM – “Mashup (When ah Touchdown)”

This song was a smash from the time I premiered it on SLAM FM here in Barbados, and it’s been picking up an insane amount of steam. Definitely a crowd favorite in parties and after Bubba caught the vibe he invited me to join him in the music video. Here’s my first pick from King Bubba FM – “Mashup (When ah Touchdown)”.

Hypasounds – How She Like It

I’ve known Hypasounds for a while and day one fans would know that he is definitely the most consistent artist in Barbados. He is known for relatively “sweet” songs, but this one from the start is significantly more aggressive. From the tempo to the vibe, this is definitely a party starter in my books, and I will be releasing the remix really soon.

Stiffy & Jagwa – Bus Crawl

Fellow SLAM jock Sizz made his production debut this year with this riddim called the Van Jam. This song speaks everything to the Barbadian culture because it speaks about one of the popular types of events we do here, called the Bus Crawl. The artists Stiffy & Jagwa describe it all in great detail in this song. If you wanna know about Bajan culture, listen to this!

Marvay – Survive The Weekend

This year, Damian Marvay gives us his Red Boyz-produced track entitled “Survive The Weekend.” This track challenges Crop Over partygoers to fight their way through the crazy and hectic Crop Over weekend.

It’s been a pleasure working with I-Octane, T Smallz, Paul and the entire team for the opportunity to remix this crazy track. This is my contribution to I-Octane’s The Crop Over EP, debuted recently on LargeUp.
