Federation Sound’s Highland riddim is sort of like a tour of classic ’90s dancehall instrumentals: There’s the now-ubiquitous “Hey!” from the Showtime riddim, the ribbit of 1994’s Leaping Frog, the throb of Bruk Out. The Dave Kelly era boiled down and distilled into one track.
Atop it all is a lineup of artists each well equipped to deal with classic bashment vibes: Vybz Kartel, Tifa, Mr. Lexx, Ward 21, Marcy Chin, Road Elf, Shawn Storm, Screechy Dan, Red Fox and Frankie Sly. “Body Nuh Done,” from the always on-point Tifa, is easily a highlight; it’s also the first track available from the riddim release, which drops 8/21.
Pre-order it here, and, starting today, you’ll be able to download the track immediately through what they’re calling “instant gratification,” a sort of exclusive preview for early adopters. Or, you can just stream the track right here, and wait til the 21st. Your move.
