Photos by Reid Van Renesse and Justin Jay
An avid surfer who travels frequently to Guadeloupe, LargeUp photo contributor Reid van Renesse has gotten well familiar with the island chain’s various surf spots. With the support of the Guadeloupe Islands Board of Tourism, he and fellow photographer Justin Jay recently set off on an expedition to document the burgeoning surf scene there. Waking up every day literally right above a famous break known as “Le Spot,” the duo hit up surf breaks across the islands, capturing the action in the waves, and on the road to them, too.
Van Renesse and Jay have gathered a handful of the best flicks from their journey for a group photo show, Surf Gwada!, opening this Saturday at the Rockaway Beach Surf Club in Queens, NY.
