Greetings #MixtapeMondays crew, hope the weekend treated you right. Start your week off with some heavy dubplates, roots & culture and lovers rock from some big sounds and artists below.
DeeBuzz Sound, “Mad Moove” Dubplate Anthology Volume 2: It’s always interesting to take a look into different soundsystems dub boxes, and dubplate mixes can make for a good listen as well providing a few simple things (i.e. clean blends and properly voiced tunes). This example goes hard from Germany’s DeeBuzz Sound and covers all the correct bases – look out for the equally wicked vol. 1 of their dubplate anthology as well right here. Yaadcore, Roots Dawta: Something for all the sistren this week thanks to one of Jamaica’s leading roots and dub selectors Yaadcore. When not touching the road as tour DJ for Protoje, Yaadcore can be found consistently bringing the heat via mixtapes and radio, exposing new artists and passionately pushing conscious roots & culture to the globe. Women singers have been an integral fabric of reggae music since its inception, and Yaadcore pays tribute to the current movement of well-known and bubbling talents with Roots Dawta. Mr Vegas, Lovers Rock & Soul Mix: Leave it to an artist like Mr Vegas to bring back lover’s rock reggae and rub a dub in a climate of endless slackness and pull ups. Not that he can’t tackle those tunes with the best of them but it’s nice to see a veteran flex their diversity and give his fans something that can stand the test of time for years to come. Vegas taps DJ Joe Young to mix up a full preview of what to expect from the upcoming album coming October 9th, which features reggae renditions of soulful songs new and old. Stream below
