EVENT: LargeUp + Walshy Fire Present Afro Soca at Rum & Bass Miami (3/22)

Words by LargeUp Crew

LargeUp is teaming with Walshy Fire‘s weekly Miami party Rum & Bass to present Miami’s first-ever Afro Soca event, Tuesday night March 22nd at Coyo Taco in Wynwood. The party, taking place during Miami’s ongoing #WMC festivities, doubles as a release party for DJ Jam Central‘s forthcoming LargeUp mixtape Afro Soca, and will feature sets from Walshy, Jam Central and DJ Ryan Sayeed (Miami) plus Rum & Bass’ Corey Chase and Silent Addy and visits from a few special guests, too.

The mixtape and party taps into the fusion and merging of African and Caribbean sounds that has become more noticeable over the last two years, in songs like Olatunji’s “Ola” to Runtown, Wizkid and Walshy Fire’s “Bend Down Pause.”  With that fusion as our inspiration, we’ll also be playing straight afrobeats, straight soca and a whole lot of other stuff, too. Read more about Afro Soca here, and look out for Jam’s mixtape coming soon.
