Selector’s Choice: Mighty Crown (Japan)

Welcome back to Selector’s Choice, LargeUp’s weekly new music column, where we check in with our favorite selectors and DJs to find out which tunes they’re rinsing right now. If you follow the sound clash circuit, or reggae and dancehall in general, this week’s guests should need no introduction,  but we’ll let them tell you who they are anyway…

Bless up Large Up from the Far East Rulerz, Mighty Crown — Sami T, Masta Simon and Ninja Crown, reporting from the U.K., where we’re currently on tour celebrating our 25th anniversary. The following songs are the Mighty Crown favorites right now. These are songs that we strongly feel will be the big tunes of Summer 2016.

Konshens – Bruk Off

Konshens is known to always find the gyal anthem dem. We strongly feel him find a next one! This is going to be the gyal summer song!

Aidonia – Hey Yo

This song is another ghetto anthem from Aidonia. Just have a feeling seh this a shot. Aidonia continues to show his ability to deliver lyrical content, and brings a wicked melodic hook for the dancehall fans to build a vibe to.

Masicka – Fly Over Them

Masicka is one of the very best talents hailing from Jamaica. Songs like “Hardball” and “Dem a Go Dead” have been going well for him. And “Fly Over Them” is next in line for hit status!

Alkaline – Conquer the World

Pure hits the man have on his “Next Level Unlocked” album. Big tunes like “Champion Boy” and “ATM” are running the dancehall scene. The wicked tune “Conquer the World” got next!

DJ Bravo – Champion

I’ve been playing this song in big shows already and get good forwards for it every time! This is going to be a Summer 2016 anthem.

Jr. Gong – Caution

It’s another gem coming from top artist Damian Marley. His lyrical content is always on point.

Jahmiel -Where Were You?

This deh youth has been taking the industry by storm since the hit “Gain the World!” He is coming with more hits I swear because this one here….bwoy me a tell you! This single speaks to so many people as we all can relate to the time where people only come around when you on top.

Dexta Daps – Chinese Jordan

This soon-to-be-giant tune nah normal! It soon will follow the path of anthems like “7eleven” and “Shabba Madda Pot.” This tune already start buss dance!

Chino and Stephen McGregor – Zero Tolerance

This is a baaad song from the Big Ship camp talking about reality. There’s also a video to it, and I personally think seh this song should get more shine.

Tarrus Riley feat. Zagga – Justice

This is a song that is about to be released… the lyrics and the vibes are true reggae!
