Tomorrow will see the release of Sicily-born, Jamaica-based artist and producer Alborosie‘s latest LP, Freedom & Fiyah. To preview the release, a 13-track set through VP/Greensleeves, he’s given us an exclusive listen to “Strolling,” a heavy rub-a-dub tune featuring Protoje recorded at Alborosie’s Shengen Studio outside of Kingston.
Protoje is one of several guests who appear on the album, the others being Ky-mani Marley and up and coming singers Sugus and Sandy Smith. Production for the album was handled primarily by Alborosie but also contains contributions from Winta James (on “Carry On”) and Italian producers Madasky (” Fly 420″) and Waw (“Judgement”)
“It’s a reggae rub-a-dub album with mild elements from electronic music,” Alborosie tells us of Freedom & Fiyah via e-mail. “It’s a very uniform album with all the songs connected together by similar sounds and atmosphere.”
