It’s officially the first day of summer and we’ve got the soundtrack for the occasion at #MixtapeMondays. Dive into the vibes below.
Walshy Fire x Kabaka Pyramid, Accurate: Accurate! The only word to correctly describe this monstrous combination from one of contemporary reggae’s strongest voices – Kabaka Pyramid from the Bebble Rock camp – and Walshy Fire from the global powerhouse that is Major Lazer. One of the best artists in the reggae game flexes bare lyrics and exclusives over a barrage of reggae and hip hop versions. If you’re curious to hear Kabaka join friends like Chronixx, Protoje, Pressure Busspipe and more over Brand Nubian beats, joints with Raekwon and maybe even “Panda” then you’ve come to the right place. Wickedest ting around. Stream below, tracklist and download here
Deejay Theory, Northern Nights Mix 2016: It’s that time of the season when yours truly drops a summer mix in preparation for Northern Nights festival up in Humboldt, CA. Being that the festival is a cross-section of vibes, music, and people, I try to reflect that in the mix while including my usual heavy-handed portion of dancehall and Caribbean flavors. Look out for a heap of unreleased edits and remixes with appearances from Mavado, Gyptian, M.I.A, and more plus some house, bass and RnB chunes. Roll down the windows and stream below
DJ Enroute, Summer Heat Vol.2: Speaking of summer, new selector on the scene DJ Enroute hits the nail on the head same way with his summer mix full of new dancehall, hip hop, soca, Afrobeat, RnB and dembow primed and ready for poolside or cookout. Linked by our good friend DJ Rampage, Enroute is a Belizean DJ by way of LA making some new moves, and as long as the mixes come with the fire like this you’ll be seeing more of him soon. Press play on this and hold a vibe in the name of summe! Stream and download below
