I-Octane is gearing up for a busy summer. The Jamaican dancehall star, who recently collaborated with Bajan singer Jus D. for the groovy soca track “Perform,” is among the headliners at this year’s 25th anniversary edition of Reggae Sumfest, where he’s set to perform on Dancehall Night (July 22nd) alongside Beenie Man, Bounty Killer, Popcaan and others. Of course, if you want to do summer right, you’ve gotta have a big summer single, and Octane looks to have one with his latest, “Up Fi the Ride” on True Gift Entertainment’s Tropical Punch riddim.
There’s no beating around the bush on this one: this is a track fi di gyal dem, as Octane notes in the very first moment of the track: This is a tune made to ensure that maximum winery occurs when it’s played. Such a phenomenon is illustrated in its own video, as Octane is surrounded by a posse of female dancers taking their turn freestyling on a sound system-inspired set. Press play below, and let the wining begin.
