Mixtape Mondays: DJ Enroute, Terry Juarez, AAA Badboy vs Jus Now

Words by DJ Arems

As Carnival winds through Trinidad, it can be a bit of a drag for those of us not lucky enough to be in the streets of Port of Spain. Fortunately, we’ve got a couple soca gems to help you make it through; and if you are on the road and seeing this late, well if you can help you keep the vibes going, then we’ve done our job. We’ve also got a LargeUp Premiere from the Ramage Sound Global family so you know we’re starting your week off on the good foot.

Premiere: DJ Enroute, Still Ah Win: LA’s DJ Enroute of Rampage Sound Global has put together a bere vibes mix featuring some of the biggest dancehall chunes out right now sprinkled with a few afrobeat heaters and a touch of hip hop. If you’re not familiar with the tracks on this mix. there’s a good chance you ignored dancehall altogether for the last six months. Straight goods with no filler! Stream below and download below:

Terry Juarez, Soul On Fire – Classic Soca 1995-2009: Soca has come a long way in the past few years with far better production, catchier melodies and an overall improvement in the quality of releases. If you’ve just lately become a fan or you want to reminisce about the good ol days, this is the mix for you. There’s some essential chunes missing but Terry Juarez has done a great job summing up 15 years of Soca gone by with an undeniable track list of hits. Stream and download below:

AAA Badboy vs Jus Now, Carnival 2017 (BBC 1Xtra Mix): The UK’s AAA Badboy linked up with Trinidad / UK duo Jus Now to give us a taste of what it might be like pon di road at Carnival this year. Originally having aired last week DJ Target’s BBC 1Xtra show, you’ll find big chunes ah plenty with a selection of this season’s best soca currently blasting on sound systems throughout the Caribbean and worldwide. Instant wuk and whine time once you’ve hit play. Stream below and download here:
