Winter Music Conference is known for gathering the world’s top DJs in one place, but we like to bring some of our favorite artists down to Miami with us too for our annual WMC party, Winter Music Massive.
Mr. Vegas, Johnny Osbourne, Jovi Rockwell, Damian Marley, Stephen Marley, Jesse Royal, Bunji Garlin, Fay-ann Lyons, Assassin and Tifa are a few of those who’ve appeared at past Winter Music Massive editions, along with such selectors as Walshy Fire, Jillionaire, Willy Chin, Jasmine Solano and Melo-X. This year’s featured guest is none other than dancehall originator Sister Nancy.
It’s been a noteworthy year for the Original Mumma. She made her return to Jamaica in January at Rebel Salute, and her 1982 classic “Bam Bam” was recently recognized by Pitchfork (in a Top 50 list moderated by former LargeUp editor Eddie Stats) as the greatest dancehall song of all-time. She’ll play her first show in Miami since, well, possibly ever on Thursday, March 23rd, appearing alongside the Rice and Peas crew (DJ Gravy, Micro Don, Orijahnal Vibez), Alley Cat, DJ Iron Lyon and Love Taps, plus more special guests TBA, at Sweet Liberty in South Beach. RSVP your attendance at rsvp@largeup.com, and keep it locked for more details.
