Mixtape Mondays: Vybz Kartel x Silent Addy, The Groove Thief, DJ Odyssey

Words by DJ Arems

Whether you’ve got the day off or you’re already back at work, we’ve found another gang of mixtapes to set your Easter Monday off right. A best of Kartel comp to keep you up to date with what’s good from the Worl’ Boss, some feel good tings, and a ganja mix to get your ready for this week’s ‘holiday’. Dig in below.

Silent Addy, WAYUP Radio Free World Boss – Best of Vybz Kartel: To celebrate the release of Kolachampagne’s new Vybz Kartel Tee, designed by the biggie homie N8NE, our bredren Silent Addy has compiled another best of Kartel mix to compliment the one he dropped 2 years ago. No one has been more prolific than Adi Teacha when it comes to dropping new fiyah chunes on an almost weekly basis and the content on this ‘best of’ is fairly new and mixed perfectly. At this rate, we expect there will be lots more best of Kartel compilations to come but make sure to grab this one as it’s definitely one of the better ones out there. Stream and download below:

The Groove Thief, Put This in Your Pipe and Smoke It: We’re closing in on herablists’ favorite day of the year as 4:20 is set to hit this Thursday with giant spliffs being passed pon di left hand side and clouds of smoke coming to the air near you. Canada has just set out it’s plan for the legalization of marijuana next year and many US States have already made recreational weed use legal including Colorado where we find The Groove Thief and his one hour mix of ganja anthems. From foundation to future vibes, you’ll find exclusive dubplates, edits, and blends from  dedicated veteran tokers and rising herbalist heroes alike on this one. Grab your chalice or clean out your bong then stream below:

DJ Odyssey, Spring Grenade – Music is Life Vol.11: This one dropped a couple of weeks ago but is not to be overlooked. Belize City’s DJ Odyssey has released another well crafted mix with every element necessary to make a classic mixtape including dope selection, wicked sound effects and flawless mixing plus some really nice cuts. This one’s truly a feel good mix with lots of brand new dancehall mixed in with some hip hop, R&B and a whole heap ah soca. A perfect mix to keep on rotation all Spring. Stream and download below:
