J Boog‘s recent Wash House Ting album featured a number of guest artists from Jamaica, including an appearance by one Chaka Demus, of Chaka Demus & Pliers fame, on “Good Cry,” a PG-13 reggae sex tune in the tradition of Inner Circle’s “Sweat.” For the video for this summer-ready single, the Compton-born, Hawaii-based Boog took the opportunity to shoot on location in Jamaica, specifically Majesty Gardens, the Kingston neighborhood known to many Jamaicans as ‘Back To.’ The video features nuff dancers and Kingston vibes — and keep an eye out for the cameo from the human sound effects machine Joe Lickshot!
“It was a humbling experience working with such a legendary foundation dancehall artist like Chaka Demus,” J Boog says. “I really didn’t know what to expect only meeting him once before the video shoot. We had a splendid time indeed, vibing and chillin with the people of Majesty Garden.”
