Words by Deejay Theory
Greetings #MixtapeMondays family, it’s the first week of June which means we’re officially entering summertime! This can mean so many things, but like always it’s best paired with new music from deejays around the world. Let’s jump right in.
Smutlee x Deejay Theory x Mash Up Intl, Radar Radio 6/2/17: Last Friday yours truly had the pleasure of stepping in the virtual DJ booth with good mate Smutlee in London and Swedish bad boys Mash Up International for a 2 hour bashment takeover on the Radar Radio towers. Smutlee warms up the ting followed by Teery taking the helm around :35, with Mash Up and Smut closing out the second half with the very best in dancehall, afrobeats, grime, rap and general badness. Run the whole set below or download here.
The Heatwave, Booty Bangers #17: Dancehall is all about having fun and enjoying life, and the fellas at The Heatwave know this all too well. When the summer season rolls around, the mixes get hotter and the bikinis get smaller, thus their latest bashment dancehall mix cooked up for the Booty Bangerz monthly series via The 264 cru. You know what they say – sun’s out, gun fingers out! Stream the vibes below.
Vybz Kartel x DJ Roy, Collaboration Only Mixtape: We’re always down for a unique concept mix around here, and for this edition Jamaica’s own DJ Roy digs into the bins to compile strictly Vybz Kartel collaborations and features. From the New Millenium era and up to the present, Addi has clocked some minor + big features throughout the years – Ramping Shop of course being a big one – but Roy breaks down just about all of them on this collection.
