Mixtape Mondays: Rampage Sound Global, Lukie Wyniger, Satta Sound, Shotz x Bounty Killer

Words by DJ Arems

We kick off this week with a Large Up premiere to help uplift your spirit in these trying times. Plus, we also get into some brand-new Afrobeats and focus on the music of the Virgin Islands as they continue their recovery after a recent string of hurricanes. Nothing but quality mixtape niceness to set things off right.

LargeUp Premiere: Rampage Sound Global, Charge Fi Culture: Our bredrin, DJ Rampage (along with his Rampage Sound Global crew) has just blessed us with another exclusive roots and culture mix, continuing his quest to bring great reggae music to the masses with a pure and uplifting appeal. In these days and times, with racists and bigots feeling safe to express their ignorance, a mix like this helps to ground your soul in knowing that we as a human race can overcome all evil and stupidity. Charge Fi Culture features massive artists like Chronixx, Damian Marley, Tarrus Riley and Barrington Levy, among many others, spreading knowledge and positivity. Run this one on repeat to help bun out babylon. Stream below:

Lukie Wyniger, Ferrari For You – Afrobeat Mix 2017: Afrobeats has steadily been making its way into the mainstream, and the amount of quality music coming out of the Motherland is staggering. Thankfully, one of the busiest DJs in the game, Lukie Wyniger, has taken the time to drop another wicked mixtape featuring all of the best afrobeat to have come out so far this year. Ferrari For You starts off mellow and steadily builds up to the fast-paced bangers most dancehall selectors have become accustom to incorporating in to their sets. Satta Sound, #WeatherTheStorm – A Tribute to the Virgin Islands: It’s been a tough season for the Caribbean with hurricane after hurricane slamming into the small tropical islands that bring the world such a wealth of music and culture. With the Virgin Islands still trying to pick up the pieces after Hurricane Irma, Hurricane Maria soon blew through dampening all hopes of a fast recovery. Satta Sound, based in Vermont but with roots in the V.I., have compiled a mix of reggae music out of the Virgin Islands to showcase the talent that has risen from this small region of the Caribbean. You’ll find artists you’ll know plus many you should get familiar with on this mix. Keep the Virgin Islands in your thoughts and donate to hurricane relief funds for the region if you can.
