Shantonio Chromatic, Bassier Tingz Chapter 1: DJ Shantonio of Jamaica’s Chromatic Sound has launched a new mixtape series that focuses on high-powered remixes of dancehall tracks with some club hits and badman originals mixed in for more flavor. It’s safe to say that, if someone’s put out a decent remix of a recent big chune, Shantonio has taken the time to find it, and included it here. Many of the tracks on this mix have build ups, drops and are EDM-inspired, but the selections are high quality and won’t annoy you, if that’s not your thing. A perfect mix to put on to get hyped while you’re on your way out to celebrate this weekend. Stream and download below.
Yung Ruler X Shinehead X Papalotl, Gregory Isaacs Legacy: There’s a lot of elements involved in this mix, and all add extra niceness to it, but simply put, this is a tribute mix to the late great Gregory Isaacs. You’ll find all of the Cool Ruler’s hits here mixed in with tracks from his son, Yung Ruler. The similarity in their voices is amazing and if you don’t pay attention you might think you’re listening to Gregory Isaacs the whole time. Papalotl mixes the tracks seamlessly and it’s hosted by the legendary Shinehead who chats over the mix effortlessly and makes it even more enjoyable. The mix aired on Irish and Chin’s Sound Chat Radio show recently, which you can stream below.
DJ Dotcom, Breeze: Jamaica’s DJ Dotcom, the self-proclaimed mixtape genius, rounds up the latest fiyah hitting speakers in dancehalls across the islands on his latest mix, Breeze.
