Look Yah: Watch Angela Hunte’s Video for “Gettin Ova U”

Words by Tishanna Williams

Heartache should not sound this good…. or look it, for that matter.

Angela Hunte just dropped the official video for ‘Gettin Ova U,’ the second single off her debut album, R.A.W (Reasons and Words). The video, which premiered yesterday on Billboard, as part of a feature on the artist by Patricia Meschino, was shot in Miami and Fort Lauderdale. Despite the location, the Brooklyn- and Trinidad-raised songstress rocks her usual New York swag, complete with baseball cap turned backwards. Director Seeohen puts together shots that give a slight subliminal Jamaican aesthetic to the video, with pops of yellow and green, reflecting the reggae flavor of the track. It’s not his and Hunte’s first time working together — he also directed the “Runaway Love” video earlier this year — and you can see the easy relationship the two share. Angela looks effortless on camera singing her sorrows away in a Caribbean dive bar setting complete with Angostura bitters and our favorite piece – an old SINGER sewing machine, just like your Caribbean Granny used to use. Watch the video below, and check out Angela’s appearance on “Voices,” the freshly-dropped debut single from new Caribbean/EDM project Oye!

One thing, though, Angela… we’re still waiting for that 2018 soca?!?
