Mixtape Mondays: DJ Crown Prince, Lukie Wyniger, DJ Smartiez

Words by DJ Arems

Things are starting to warm up for the Summer, and we’ve found all the heat you need to sweat to or just relax and chill. This week we get into two wicked mixes to make you buss ah dance, and a mix from Switzerland focusing on street life in Jamaica. Nothing but fire, so let’s get into it!

DJ Crown Prince, Socafro 4: Crown Prince has been blending and bending the genres of soca and Afrobeats for years. And his mixes always demonstrate how well he knows these genres. He always manages to find all the bangers and mix them into one undeniable package. Check your pulse if you’re waistline isn’t moving once you hit play on this one. Stream and download below:

Lukie Wyniger, Where We Come From: Following a recent trip to Jamaica, Switzerland’s Lukie Wyniger has delved into the latest dancehall and reggae chunes outlining the struggles of growing up poor in the Caribbean. The mix features dancehall stars like Vybz Kartel, Jahmiel, Popcaan and I-Octane as well as up and comers Rygin King and Prohgress. As always when it comes to Uncle Peng Peng’s mixes, look for a sprinkling of dubplates throughout this well thought out compilation. Stream below:

DJ Smartiez, Slackness 2: Toronto’s DJ Smartiez has been holding down the Six for years with his versatile repertoire and always dope mixtapes. As the title alludes to, Slackness 2 features all the dutty dancehall fire released so far this year with a touch of 2017 and older chunes to bubble and wine to. This one delivers hit after hit of dancehall dutty-ness. Stream below:
