Ahead of this weekend’s Notting Hill Carnival festivities, Orange Hill — the London-based collective headed up by DJ/producer/presenter Ras Kwame — are dropping The Carnival EP, a seamlessly eclectic ride through the sounds that make Notting Hill one of the world’s top musical experiences.
To get things started, Orange Hill have shared lead single “Up Wid It!” featuring Mr. Vegas, which premiered via our friends at OkayAfrica.
The track is an uptempo Afrobashment banger delivered with the vibes and energy we’ve come to expect from Mr. Vegas — and Orange Hill. While it’s the first time Kwame and crew — who’ve previously worked with a who’s who of dancehall greats including Vybz Kartel, Mr. Lexx and Busy Signal — have paired up with Vegas, it’s a natural fit we imagine will lead to many more collaborations.
The Carnival is out tomorrow, August 24, via Delicious Vinyl Island. But you can listen to the full EP — featuring appearances by Lisa Mercedez, Roach Killa, Cecile and Smoodface — right here. It’s available tomorrow on all streaming services.
You can also find Orange Hill and Mr. Vegas on the road at Notting Hill this Sunday; their performance will be livestreamed worldwide as part of Boiler Room’s live Carnival broadcast.
