Mixtape Mondays: DJ Triplet, Deejay Theory, Tank Gyal

Words by DJ Arems

LargeUp Premiere: DJ Triplet, Touch Down: Germany’s DJ Triplet has been gracing the Mixtape Mondays pages for a minute now, and he hit us up to premiere his brand new one exclusively. This young DJ has been growing his production skills year by year, and the results are clearly there on this heater of a mix. Touch Down is not your typical dancehall/hip-hop mixtape. Triplet drops some of the biggest club hits bangin around the world right now and follows each with his exclusive dancehall remix of the very same chune. The mix is flawless and the remixes are well thought out and definitely on point. When asked for his take on the mix, he tells us that “I wanted to do this mixtape for people to step out of their comfort zone, and open up to different influences. By that, I hope we can be more inclusive and have the dance floor be a place of diversity and a home to many different kinds of people.” Do not sleep on this one! Stream below:

Deejay Theory, Booms and Claps Mix 038: Faction Sound and LargeUp crew member Deejay Theory hits us with another big bad mixtape featuring his unique Tropical Bass production and remixes of current dancehall, hip hop, UK and Afrobeats. Booms and Claps, a blog dedicated to bass-heavy music, reached out to Theory to bless up their mix series and bless them he did. Tons of exclusive remixes and dope production lace this mix with flavour and will have you reaching for the volume knob for maximum tun up. It’s nice to hear Theory flexin his turntable skillz on this one too cuz the man is nice wid it! Bere vibes and pure fiyah every time. Stream below:

Tank Gyal, Light Twerkerz Lit Mix 001: DJ Tank Gyal has been a staple in the Northwest Dancehall scene for over a decade and holds down the longest running dancehall weekly in Vancouver – Ting Thursdays. For this mix she teams up with west coast dance crew Light Twerkerz to bring you almost 80 minutes of booty shakin shellingz, the majority of which are dancehall. The mix starts of with a few RnB twerk must haves but quickly delves into heavy dancehall daggerin chunes with a splash of other booty favourites from different genres sprinkled in. Check you’re heart rate if this one doesn’t make you wanna bubble or teef a wine. Stream below:
