It was just the other day that we sat down with Dre Island to get his perspectives on life, music and spirituality. In a wide-ranging conversation with Tishanna Williams, the “We Pray” singjay and Unruly family member discussed his love for the piano, his entry into the music business, and the next steps in his developing career. He also spoke on his new single “Crazy,” which, he explained, “has a magic feel and is one for the ladies.”
We’ve got an exclusive premiere of the video for “Crazy,” a track which is just as Dre described it. Produced by MathsofMind Productions, “Crazy” has a big, melodic sound that recalls some of the finest work of Stephen Marley and Jah Cure. It’s definitely a different sound for the artist that is sure to continue to carry the name Dre Island further. The song’s themes — it’s about regret, and the indecisiveness of a former lover — are visualized by directors Wikid Media, who shot the colorful clip at points along Jamaica’s North Coast.
“Crazy,” which will appear on Dre Island’s upcoming album Now I Rise, is out today on all streaming services. Read the rest of our interview with Dre Island here.
